Covid Nails

Neville - How to treat them

Our nails provide a window into what’s going on inside your body. People who use nail polish or artificial nails all the time don’t get to see into that window. This is why at Neville they have launched a Clear Covid Nail Treatment to give a thorough nail check and then strengthen weakened nails with their new Olaplex for Nail treatment.

Nails can provide answers to vitamin deficiency. A handful of strange changes in the finger and toe nails have been documented over the course of the pandemic. The underlying theory is that a stress line forms after the body shuts down for a brief period of time to fight the infection. During this time nails don't grow. It also can happen after other stresses like chemotherapy and severe malnutrition.

Fingernails grow in roughly six-month cycles, therefore any change in appearance caused by the coronavirus may show with a delay. The nail technicians at Neville Salon have seen an increase in nails showcasing these stress lines. Listening to their clients is what makes the salon stand out from others, so the salon has put the brilliant Olaplex for Nails treatment on the menu.

IBX nail treatment to target peeling or damaged nails and enhance growth. It can either be used as an 'add on' under Gel Polish for a protective shield or for precise damage repair such as splits and peeling.

A penetrating toughening agent that fuses together the nail's top layers to improve the nail plate integrity and keep your natural nails strong so that they grow long.

The treatment uses conditioning monomers (molecules that bond together) that are able to penetrate the nail plate under gentle heat, strengthening the natural nail by filling in gaps and ridges and providing a protective shield to prevent nails from breaking. The treatment is also used to target natural nail imperfections and weaknesses that prevent natural nails from growing long. This is perfect for any post Covid nail concerns.

Protect your hair from sun damage

Protect your hair from sun damage

It’s a well-known fact, that sun despite is enticing allure can cause havoc on your hair. The sun produces ultraviolet rays, UVA and UVB, which can with prolonged exposure cause damage to the outer layer of the hair. Flavex Lima, our hair health expert and treatment specialist warns, that unless you protect your hair from the sunshine you may experience discolouration, dehydration, broken or split ends as well as thinning.

Considering the current situation surrounding Covid, you are likely to be in dire need of some sunshine and a holiday. So, to ensure that the only thing turning green is your holiday destination and not your hair, we’ve put together a list of tips to protect your precious tresses from sun damage.

Flavex advises that you should treat your hair with the same care you would your skin, and that means protecting it!

There are several options to consider:

  • Wear a sun hat preferably a wide brim that will not only cover your hair and scalp but provide additional protection to your neck and face.

  • Try to cut back on the amount of shampoos as they tend to strip your hair from natural oils which protect your hair.
  • Try and reduce how many times you use hot appliances on your hair if you are regularly exposed to the sunshine as this will stress the hair out and also dehydrate it.

In addition to the protective measure to be taken during exposure, Flavex recommends having some high-tech treatments. At Neville we offer the Hair Botox treatment, which is exclusive to Neville and is a great pre and post treatment to have. Hair Botox acts as a deep conditioner for a month and also helps make hair manageable by reducing frizz.

It’s high tech components, which include the famous tannin, help replenish the water, PH and keratin in your hair. Aside from the Hair Botox, Flavex offers a multitude of hair treatments to repair every case of hair cuticle to guarantee you with a summer of healthy hydrated hair.
