Receptionist

The receptionist is the first face that clients see when they come in for appointments and the last face they see on the way out. Salon receptionist responsibilities include greeting customers upon their arrival, answering clients’ questions about services via phone, email or in person and processing transactions. To be successful in this role, you should be highly organised and able to manage clients with grace, even during peak demand. Ultimately, you will help boost our reputation by building friendly, trusting relationships with customers. All reception staff are required to wear a uniform as requested by the salon owner and should arrive to work looking professional and well-groomed as you are representing Neville Hair & Beauty.

Along with representing the salon’s name, a salon receptionist’s duties include and are not limited to:

Primary responsibilities

  • Warmly greet clients, walk them to the proper stations and inform assigned staff of their arrival
  • Book and confirm appointments via phone and email
  • Process transactions (cash and credit cards) and issue receipts
  • Offer beverages and chat with clients who are in the waiting area
  • Welcome walk-ins, answer questions about services and schedule appointments based on availability
  • Inform clients about new services and discounts
  • Cross-sell services and products when appropriate
  • Update client records with contact and billing details, appointments and services offered
  • Maintain a tidy, organised reception area
  • Order business cards, brochures and stationery as needed
  • Answer phones, book appointments and calling clients to confirm appointments where necessary
  • Perform transactions for client services
  • Keep the salon front clean, professional looking and inviting
  • Sell appropriate retail to customers leaving
  • Sell all retail products, with a daily target (to be reviewed)
  • Make best use of the diary and coordinate appointments by upselling services (target to be reviewed)
  • Maintain and maximise the appointment system. Book clients into the system (name, treatment, telephone number and email address) and check each has relevant consultation/treatment forms
  • Keep the stylists/technicians/ therapists updated on their bookings
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Take all payments and log them against the client’s appointment
  • Check clients in and be constantly aware of the clients in the salon – how long have they been waiting who are they waiting for; what service are they having; how much longer will their stylist/technician/therapist be
  • Assist and support the Floor Manager
  • Be aware of the salons progress; any special promotions; salon targets; Health and Safety requirements
  • Consistently work towards achieving and maintaining excellence in the salon
  • Log sales and purchases
  • Deal with client complaints
  • Collect holiday forms
  • Answer phones and operate a switchboard
  • Route calls to specific people
  • Answer enquiries about company
  • Greet visitors warmly and make sure they are comfortable
  • Call persons waiting for visitor and log them in
  • Coordinate mail flow in and out of the salon
  • Handle phone calls from people calling in sick
  • Gather personal and insurance information
  • Hand out employee applications
  • Send email and faxes
  • Collect and distribute parcels and other mail
  • Perform basic bookkeeping, filing, and clerical duties
  • Take and relay messages
  • Update appointment calendars
  • Rebook appointment

Salary from £20,000 to £24,000 depending on experience.

Apprentices

We are currently seeking apprentices to join our expanding team.

Neville Hair and Beauty is a leading independent salon based in Belgravia, London.

High standards of customer service and professionalism are paramount, within a relaxed, buzzing environment.

With opportunities to grow, candidates will be helped and encouraged to achieve their maximum potential.

Job responsibilities will include assisting with the upkeep of the salon, welcoming clients, shampooing and helping out your colleagues. Throughout your time as an apprentice you will develop invaluable experience by working in a busy environment as well as being exposed to high standards of professional hairdressing.

In addition to the practical skills you will learn on the job, apprentices will be given the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised hairdressing qualification and apprenticeship certificate NVQ2 & 3. This is delivered in house and includes Maths and English.

Motivated apprentices will be given the opportunity to assist the Neville artistic team backstage at London or Paris fashion week, help out at high end fashion shoots as well as style red carpet talent.
